History of Philadelphia

Founded in 1682 by William Penn, Philadelphia has grown to become one of the most important cities in the United States. It was the site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the founding of the United States Constitution in 1787. It was also the temporary capital of the United States from 1790-1800 and is home to many of the nations most important historical sites.

Philadelphia is home to a number of iconic attractions, including the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The Liberty Bell is an iconic symbol of freedom and is a reminder of the citys role in the founding of the nation. Independence Hall is the place where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were both signed and is a popular tourist destination. The Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the largest art museums in the world and is renowned for its impressive collection of artwork.
